Global Beeston Takes Over

The first festival in January 2015 was a great success. We screened over 60 short films from over 20 countries; both days were completely sold-out; and many filmmakers attended, such as Keith Allot, Arnie Chen, Sophie Johnson-Hill, Sophie Black, Adam Anwi and many others. We couldn’t have been happier.

We aimed to bring to Beeston stories from around the world and we did. Films from the UK, USA, Germany, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia, Macao, Iran, Australia and many more enriched our festival. Yet it struck us that we could do more to give expression to Local and Global.

Global Beeston presents another development of that idea through showcasing works from a particular country. The showcase curators bring specific knowledge of filmmaking in that region to create an amazing evening of entertainment.

  • 26th September 2015 – TAIWAN – The White Lion  – Curator – Mark Ang with introduction by Arnie Chen.
  • 31st October 2015 – GERMANY – University of Nottingham – Curator and video introduction from James Kellogg.
  • 21st November 2015 – TASMANIA – University of Nottingham – Curator Rebecca Thomson and introduction by Carmen Falk.
  • 9th January 2016 – EAST MIDLANDS – The White Lion – Curator and introduction from Steve Best.

And finally, after a this wonderful series of show case nights, the competitive festival will take place again at The White Lion between 19th and 21st February 2016.

See you there
